Marine fishery is a complex economic activity which is not only subjected to the influence of various biotic and abiotic components that affect its functioning and determine its development. Proper management and protection of renewable resources implies taking into account biotechnological, technical, economic, legal and many other aspects. Therefore, when it comes to proper and responsible management and protection of renewable marine resources, development of fishing activities, farming, preservation, processing and trading of fish and other marine organisms, education is essential for successful management of all fishery activities. This type of education is possible at the graduate study of Marine Fishery, which educates highly qualified staff trained to work in the field of marine fisheries.
The graduate study of Marine Fishery aims to cover the following issues: methods and activities related to fishing, farming, processing and trading of fish and other marine organisms, as well as methods and management activities, protection and exploitation of marine living resources.
The staff trained in this graduate university study can play a prominent role in bodies of state, county, city and municipal administration involved in the marine fishery sector, as well as in the Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Trades and Crafts and inspection services in the affairs of fishery inspection and in companies engaged in fishing, farming, processing and trading of fish and other marine organisms, their preservation, management and protection of marine living resources. Regarding this and labour market needs, implementation of this study programme is, thus, highly justified.
